Sick Part II

So, despite plenty of rest, I woke up this morning even worse than yesterday. Went to the doctor and the glue on my chords is worse than it was on Monday. And having sung 2 shows through the glue, my chords are really swollen. So it was steroids or call out of the show. So I took the roids. Unfortunately, they just started to kick in by end of Act I and by that point I was feeling totally spent.

My throat feels raw, my legs ache, and my voice is at 60%.

Opening night is tomorrow and I'd hate to miss it. I'm considering a B12 shot to get through the show tonight but with the steroids masking my voice and the B12 masking my energy I'm concerned I'd really knock myself out for the rest of the week.

Decision time.

UGH...

We saw you on the 30th of August and the show was great. We so enjoyed your singing and acting.
I am so sorry to hear that you are not well. What a difficult decision to make.
I know you probably don't want to hear this, but I always say that things happen for a reason and we may not know what the reason is at the moment, but then something happens and there is the answer.
If you do end up feeling well enough for opening night - break a leg.
All the best!

That's terrible that you're sick -- and what a horrible time for this to happen, too. Rest and feel better soon!

Dear Aaron,
You may not remember me, but we went to West together (Leslie McNair)
You are an immensely blessed, talented and gifted performer. I am not surprised at your success. I always knew that your talents would be shared with the world in a major way. Your dedication to your craft is inspiring. Feel better soon. The stage needs you. (It's all late and wrong, but congrats on your marriage, you and your wife are beautiful together.)

wow. i just saw your performance last night, and I would have never known you weren't feeling well if I hadn't read this blog. But I could just be biased because ever since I saw you in Light in the Piazza I've admired your talent.

Feel better!

Aaron,
I just wanted to let you know that I caught TALE on August 30th and you were absolutely fantastic! I even waited at the stage door and got your autograph. Keep up the good work and I hope you're feeling better! Even though I'm only in highschool, it has been my goal to be on Broadway and I think it is tremendous that you got there! Oh, and you were great in Light In The Piazza also!!

I hope you are feeling better by now! I am dying to see you in TOTC. I met you once before backstage at Light in the Piazza, my uncle is Geoffrey Menin, haha I actually have the poster you signed for me up on my wall in my room ever since I received it. I talk to him all the time about how much I think you are absolutely amazing, my mom actually had your wife call me when she was at my Aunt's baby shower, she's so sweet!

Keep on blowing us all away, you are actually amazing.

I know I haven't commented in awhile, but I have to say I hope you're feeling better by now! You had me all worried about you. I know you're probably the best judge of your health, but don't do anything that would wreck your voice forever. I had a teacher who had done the Scottish play when he had a really bad virus and his voice is now messed up permanently.

But you're probably fine by now so I won't worry. I'm trying so hard to get up to see ToTC as soon as I can and look forward to another one of your most amazing performances! Good luck staying healthy!

Aaron, my aunt and uncle saw your performance on the 28th of September and were amazed at your vocals! They were very impressed with you and the cast and the play (they actually got to the meet Jill Santoriello and James Barbour plus a tour of the stage). So thanks for showing them such a good time! :)

Love the show!!
Thank God, Charles Dickens and Jill Santoriello for finally getting a magical, dramatic, tender yet powerful, life-changing musical back on the Broadway stage. It’s been far, far too long that we (the musical theatre loving audience) have been waiting for a story to move us as A TALE OF TWO CITIES does.

From the first stirring swells of the orchestra, to the sweet sound of stunning voices, coupled with the creative set (Tony Walton), lighting (Richard Pilbrow) and costumes (David Zinn), this musical is what Broadway is supposed to be...
